Another Photo

Today, I spent 2 hours at Famous Landmark with my friend and my camera.

And yet, my favorite photo for today turned out to be this one:

My question exactly. Q'est-ce que c'est?

(Hillarious: my verification word is "gente," as in "gente de razon," no?)

It's dessert. Duh.

Seriously? Because I see these in the produce section back home all the time. Okay, I won't tell you what it's called here, because that might give it away, but back home it goes by its Central American name, cherimoya (I believe the one here was imported from somewhere closer, but don't hold me to that). It's a fruit that tastes a little like a very creamy pear, and a little like something sweeter and more tropical.

If you're going to eat it that day, buy it so it gives a little to the pressure of your thumb. The olive-colored skin may even be *slightly* mottled with black or brown. You cut it in half and eat it with a spoon, like you would a kiwi fruit. Spit out the almond-sized pips.

Yummy.
